Transistor App Reviews

Running updated version of Mavericks & this game gets stuck on black screen with rainbow wheel immediately after the load screen. I was able to run the much more CPU-intensive Borderlands on this same system… I would wait for an update if you are a macbook user.

Game appeared to be great, got great reviews and looked like it would be something that I would like to play. After downloading and installing the game, it has never actually launched past the Transistor loading screen. I get a black screen and then launch hangs indefiintely. Contacting support, who will hopefully have an answer for me. **UPDATE** Working with Support, got my issues solved. Game is fantastic so far. Support was responsive and worked with me on a level I could understand.

I love the game’s visual style. It is a lot of fun playing around with the different function combinations and trying out different ways to engage the enemy.

Let me start by saying that I really like this game. I play on my MAC with no controller, just the MAC functions. It is unique and far different than anything else I have ever played. I enjoy the overall game. The graphics and soundtrack are top notch. I especially like the music while using the “turn’ function. My only minor complaint is that there are no real instructions or directions to start the game. You are thrown into the game and have to learn how to use the transistor on your own. I found it a bit frustrating because I had no idea what to do or how to use the basic functions. I ran around and just attacked without any insight to what combination of functions I was using. But I was able to get the hang of it after some use. It is a really unique game and at $10 it is a steal. Def give it a try, and dont get frustrated with not knowing how to use the functions. Just keep at it and soon it will all fall into place. There are some great sites online that will give you an overview as well. All and all a great game that is fun to play.

The ability/spell choices and aesthetics are amazing. I was delightfully surprised by how fun it is to try different pairings of Transistor abilities to have different play styles suited for different positions. In some games, you have classes (e.g. rogue, mage, etc in MMOs) and you’re stuck with the play style, but here you can be anything you want. A can choose to dart around and backstab enemies, or rely on powerful pet assistants, or set up massive bombs then trigger them using low cost shots, or weaken enemies gradually via damage-over-time abilities while running around healing myself. I play on a MacBook using the built-in trackpad, and it actually works alright (tip: turn on the Instant Fire option so you can hover the cover using trackpad and press number keys to activate abilites without needing to right-click). Well worth the $20 bucks because it’s actually a game I enjoy playing for the sake of playing (not just to see the story once and beat it).

The music, the storyline, the artwork, the gameplay, all just make one of those feelings of intensity like when your listening to a song with good lyrics. The music was amazing i just had to get it for myself, the ending was just so good and emotional, and the gameplay was extremely fun it kept my interest in the game all the way through(maybe 10,000 hp on the final boss would be a good idea). Loved it and brought the same feelings as Limbo did for me but just more romantic <3. Definetely get it.

just like some others, the game starts up and then locks into a black screen with only the pinwheel of death for merry adornment. I think this definitely a game to wait for, but I wish I had waited until this problem had been addressed to purcahse is

This game is awesome. It reminds me of a strategy styled Diablo III, with time freezing. It gives you a certain set of unique attacks that you may equip in any order or preference, and you can even upgrade the attacks by equiping & combining your other attacks to them (I.E equip your Bomb attack to your Slash attack to make your Slash explode). It’s difficult to explain, but it gives you so many options to strategize and really make you think about your next move. Not only is the actual game play great, but so is the story. It drops you in the middle of a murder scene with little clue as to what’s going on The game only tells you how to play and then let’s you go on your merry way, only then giving you hints as to what actually happened previously. Overall I think it’s great, unique, and definitely worthy of VGA Game of the Year. Am playing on a 2010 Macbook Pro 10.9.5, 8GB Ram & a horrible graphics card :) so not sure why others are having problems.

This is one incredible game. Art, sound and gameplay are blended perfectly into one incredibly immersive experience. The game is optimized for many of the features in Mac OS X, including Mission Control and iCloud, which is a nice added bonus to an already amazing piece of software. I’d just like to see support for Retina Displays, even though I highly doubt my Mac could support it while it already struggles on the lowest resolution option with only 8gb of RAM and Intel Iris graphics. Altogether I’m very satisfied with this game and I’d like to see other developers put as much effort into their games as Supergiant Games put into Transistor.

Makes my computer overheat, it freezes my computer in a black screen. it just does not work. I want a refund! I was very excited to play the game and this happens. I want my GD MONEY BACK!

The game lloks nice, but I can not set up my USB Joypad… so sad, I could set it up with another games like Bastion, Trine, FlatOut 2, Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, Grand Theft Auto 3 and Rush Bros...

I can’t even begin to describe how much I enjoyed playing this game. I am so glad Supergiant Games finally brought it to Mac OS X. It runs flawlessly on my 2015 13” Macbook Pro Retina. I still need to go back and play Bastion but do NOT pass this game up! I love it more so for the music than anything else. Darren Korb created a beautiful soundtrack for this game (go buy it)! Songs have different layers; sometimes only the beat will play or just the melody depending on the action and when using Turn(). Gameplay is great too because you get to experiment with different stacks of functions. The story is told in such a way that you have to really pay attention. "A voice without a body and a body without a voice.” That’s all I’m going to say for now.

Game won’t run

Open the game and it goes to a loading screen but then it goes to a black screen and won’t run.

Loading screen and then black screen. I don’t understand how this problem has persisted for so long, for so many users. There should be a warning, or information about what causes the problem.

My review had been 1 star because it didn’t launch. However, with the recent Mac OS update, the game has begun working! Graphics and sound/music are great. After I play through, I’ll alter my rating. If you like this game or are thinking about it, start with Bastion. It’s a great action/arcade game, with amazing music and a fun and unique concept.

Fantastic world filled with cyberpunk flare. Great play mechanics. The game looks amazing on a 5K display. The music is speaks to ones soul. Play this game.

I have to admit, they killed it with Bastion. But with transistor, they plopped it with the “phase” style battle. After the phase attack your a sitting duck? How boring and funny killing.
